Legia Warszawa is a professional Polish football club, one of the most popular and leading football clubs in Poland. The team boasts over 100 years of history and tradition, and loyal support of millions of fans throughout the country. 


Legia Warszawa is a modern sports organization that embraces technology to deliver an unmatched fan experience. As a part of the ongoing digital transformation of the football club, the client decided to rebuild the official mobile app. Legia Warszawa has partnered with HeroDOT to deliver a mobile solution that establishes a unified experience with the web platform and sustains a digital relationship between fans and the club. 



Legia Warszawa decided that the previous application was not meeting their standards and further development seemed pointless. The client approached us with the task to design a new app from scratch and help the club deliver a world-class mobile product that would increase fan engagement.



We helped the client with product strategy, identifying core features that would effectively engage fans. To redesign the information architecture, we conducted a series of UX workshops, prepared lo-fi wireframes and flow of the app. The design of the application was created simultaneously with the design of the website.


We have introduced four core functionalities: match center, calendar, home feed and notifications.


Match Center: Match Center is active only on a match day. In this section, fans can find live game coverage with scores and exclusive behind-the-scenes in attractive multimedia formats. 


Home Feed: Home feed features interesting news and updates, typically organized around a particular issue or topic. A well-curated home feed allows for more precise communication with fans and better promotion of different events and initiatives. The exclusive content formats are available for the logged users only. With one account, fans can access both mobile and web platforms.


Calendar:  We introduced a calendar that features all matches and other upcoming events. Fans can add favourite events and create a private, personalized calendar. They can easily stay up to date with all the important events. 


Push notifications: Another important feature are push notifications that Legia Warszawa can use to draw users to the application. Notifications can prompt users to access match center, a specific article, a calendar event or an offer. This is a great advantage of a mobile app over the website – Legia Warszawa can send real-time updates and reminders to re-engage and retain its users with useful content.


Apart from these four core features, the first version of the app also includes an offer section where various products for purchase are displayed. Besides, the club can display ads and sponsored content, including video formats. On top of that, we suggested implementing analytics to gather valuable data about users and their behaviour.


The app was developed for both iOS and Android platforms.



We have delivered a mobile app that is modern and functional. New features allow for better user engagement compared to the previous solution. The club can directly communicate with fans at a higher frequency and engage them with relevant and exclusive content. Legia supporters have access to an engaging, personalized and unified fan experience via the club’s official mobile application.


Most importantly, our mobile solution is a powerful tool for creating, displaying and monetising content. The club can adapt the app’s content so that it is fit for purpose. The solution efficiently supports the client’s strategy and is flexible enough to respond to new opportunities and complex business requirements.
